Wildflowers and Me

I recently read, "A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there." I believe this was said by Jane Travis, a self-care coach.

I've always found wildflowers to take my breath away. Flowers that grow in a wild, recently disturbed area. Soil that was moved, trees that were chopped down and roots dug up, maybe a road or trail was created. Wildflowers grow despite the tumultuous environment, beauty is there. To me, that is so lovely, the idea that we as people are so similar to plants we too grow into breathtaking wildflowers when we face trying times.

Many wildflowers have the ability to heal physically, ALL have the ability to heal emotionally and spiritually. Wildflowers are captivating and have always drawn me in.

A little over two years ago my partner, Jake and I, were married in Sedona, AZ; we wed in Oak Creek Canyon and gifted our guests little pouches of Southwestern Wildflower seeds. I danced with my mama to Tom Petty's, "Wildflowers" seen in the photos below.

Often, one can find wildflowers growing on the side of a busy road, in a meadow or open field, growing at the base of a tree, or along a trail…even in the Arizona desert. You'll see many plant types building their wildflower community, just like us needing many other experiences and people to build our wildflower communities.

"You belong among the wildflowers…you belong somewhere you feel free." - Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
